Concrete Durability
Improving performance from the inside out
Reinforced concrete is one of the most important building materials in the world, yet its long-term performance is frequently limited by a single underlying issue: permeability.
Over time, moisture and aggressive substances such as chlorides and sulfates move through the concrete’s capillaries and pores. This movement is a leading contributor to reinforcing steel corrosion, chemical attack, and the need for costly repairs or early replacement.
Many conventional methods only treat the surface. Some can even create additional problems, such as handling concerns during application or materials that interfere with future bonding.
Addressing durability at the source
SCP penetrates the capillary and pore structure and works with the concrete’s chemistry to form additional binding compounds that fill and densify that pore network. Protection develops inside the concrete. No film is left that would interfere with flooring, coatings, or future repairs.
What this means
By improving concrete from within, SCP technology helps deliver:
Lower permeability and reduced water vapor transmission
Improved resistance to chloride ingress and chemical attack
Longer service life for concrete structures
Effective performance on both new construction and existing concrete
Typical applications
Parking structures and transportation infrastructure
Industrial facilities
Wastewater and agricultural
Marine structures
Low-air concrete
New construction and remediation
Products
P3 Industrial — Concrete waterproofing
P3 Protect — Exterior concrete protection
P3 Marine — Protection for concrete exposed to marine environments
Amorfa — Mineral additive to reduce permeability in concrete
Important considerations
While SCP significantly improves durability from within, it is not a surface-applied membrane. Joints, cracks, and penetrations require separate treatment. SCP also does not replace code-required under-slab vapor retarders.
For best results, proper surface preparation on existing concrete is recommended to ensure effective penetration.
